Atlas Racing Team Dominates 2009 Snowshoe Nationals!

With over 125 competitors in this years best-of-the-best, Atlas athletes had a great showing placing 1st and 2nd in the men’s division and a dominating win in the women’s division. Peter Fain of California brought home the overall victory for Atlas in the men’s category with a time of 44:30 for the 10K course. Brandy Ereholtz of Colorado went clear from the start putting almost 7 minutes on her nearest competitor finishing with a 51:58 over 10K. Atlas Run and Race shoes were the most dominant snowshoes being used during this event. Athletes from all over the country competed including the Boy’s junior winner, Nathanial Burrell from Fairbanks, AK all the way to the opposite corner of the country with one female athlete from Florida. This was the first National that had a participant in the 80+age range with Richard Busa from the Boston area competing. Conditions were challenging as a storm the night before dumped about a foot of fresh snow on the ungroomed course. Although it seemed cold by Oregon standards, one Minnesotan competed in his running shorts and tank top commenting on the balmy conditions!
