Mountain Gear Encourages Employees to Leave Their Cars at Home

Mountain Gear Hosted a successful Bike to Work Week with the following stats:

Riders: 35
Ridership: 48%
Commutes: 76
Total Miles: 1368
Estimated Gallons of Fuel Saved: 68

Mountain Gear has also developed a Alternative Commute League.

Teams of eomployees from within the company compete throughout the summer by recieving points for biking, walking or carpooling to work.  These points are converted into prizes at the end of the season.

Last year they ended up having 36 riders that logged 647 commutes, totaling 10,883 miles, of which 7,646 where bicycles miles.  The league goes from June 1st until August 1st.

They hope to increase participation this year with the help of companies like Teko.

We applaud their creativity in helping the environment and the enjoyment of the job!
